Pappy Paws Grooming Ear Plucking Waiver

Important Notice
Ear plucking is not generally recommended for dogs because it can cause discomfort, potential microscopic tears in the ear canal, and increase the risk of ear infections, even though it was once considered a standard grooming practice. Recent research suggests that for most healthy dogs, regular ear cleaning and trimming of excess hair around the ear opening is sufficient. Only dogs with a history of ear infections might benefit from ear plucking, which should be done with consultation from a veterinarian.
Key Points Against Ear Plucking:
• Potential for injury: Pulling hair from the ear canal can create tiny tears, making the ear more susceptible to bacteria and infection.
• Pain and discomfort: The process can be painful for the dog, causing distress.
• Not always necessary: Many dogs have a naturally self-cleaning ear canal, and regular cleaning may be enough.
• Breed-specific concerns: Some breeds with excessive ear hair might benefit, but vet consultation is advised.
Alternatives to Ear Plucking:
• Regular ear cleaning: Use a vet-approved cleaner to remove excess wax and debris.
• Trimming ear hair: Carefully trim long hairs around the ear opening.
• Monitoring for infection: Watch for redness, discharge, scratching, or head shaking and consult a vet if needed.

Acknowledgment & Waiver
By signing this waiver, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Understanding the Risks
o I understand that ear plucking may cause temporary discomfort, redness, or irritation.
o I acknowledge that some veterinarians advise against routine ear plucking as it may lead to inflammation or increase susceptibility to infections.


2. Release of Liability
o I release Pappy Paws LLC, its groomers, employees, and affiliates from any liability in the event my pet experiences discomfort, infection, or other complications resulting from ear plucking.
o I agree that any veterinary care required as a result of ear plucking will be my responsibility.
3. Consent for Procedure
o I give my consent for Pappy Paws LLC to proceed with ear plucking on my pet.
o I understand that if my pet exhibits signs of extreme discomfort or distress, the groomer may decide to discontinue the procedure for the safety and well-being of my pet.
4. Veterinary Recommendation
o I acknowledge that I have the option to decline ear plucking and seek advice from my veterinarian regarding ear maintenance for my pet.
